We offer you a visit with the key to Hostalric’s medieval quarters so that you can be the main protagonists of a route at your own pace. You can complete this route in your own time, opening and closing the spaces that you visit while walking through the walled town.

The visit starts at the Tourist Information Office, where you will be given a key and a route pamphlet that will allow you to discover the most unique and significant corners of the medieval village: you will walk along the path going round the city wall, go up to the Frares Tower and the Ararà Tower, enter the Relliguer cave, admire the entrance gate to the medieval quarters and have your breath taken away by the six hundred metres of medieval wall that goes round the outside of the old royal road. Restaurant Slow Food:

Restaurant Slow Food:

The urbanism that follows the trace of the Royal Road (Bous Square, Carrer Major and De la Vila Square), 10 medieval towers and 600 metres of wall, extending from Bous Square to the Barcelona gateway, remain from the former walled precinct of Hostalric.

The wall was built with basaltic stone extracted from the hill that the castle is built on. The wall is tall, and is topped with squared merlons. Behind this was a parapet walk connecting the towers. These towers are cylindrical and semi-cylindrical, and 10 of them still stand, including the Convent Tower and Frares Tower, which were part of an exterior precinct.
